I can hardly contain my excitement as the holidays approach. The tree is up, the lights are on the house, and we’re about halfway through our list of people to shop for. Seriously my favorite time of the year!
Finding the perfect gift for everyone on your list is tough, though, so we’ll be sharing a few specialty gift guides for those hard-to-shop-for people on your list this year. First up, gifts that are perfect for the wine lover in your life – or to treat yourself this holiday season!
These are all items that Cody and I have and love. We’re also covering all the price ranges, from the investment pieces that are worth every penny to the fun little stocking stuffers.
1 // THE ULTIMATE WINE TRAVEL BAG
We fell in love with this VinGardeValise® from Flywithwine.com during our trip to the Willamette Valley earlier this year (read more about how we travel with wine here). It would make the perfect gift for a frequent traveler. Remove the inserts and its a hard-sided suitcase you can use on any trip, or keep them in and fly home safely with 12 full size bottles of wine.
2 // An amazing wine preserver
When we were in the Willamette Valley, nearly every winery used the Coravin to offer tastings from older vintages without uncorking the bottles. We have one of these on our wishlist so we don’t feel guilty about enjoying a glass from one of our nicer bottles on nights when we don’t want to finish the whole bottle (which is pretty frequent).
3 // A bluetooth wine thermometer
The Kelvin K2, at less than $35, makes a great stocking stuffer. It syncs with the Bluetooth on your phone. You select the wine varietal you’re trying to chill, and the K2 will alert you when the wine is at its perfect serving temperature.
4 // Shatterproof glasses
These glasses are a great alternative to traditional glassware, whether to keep on hand for parties or enjoy a crisp rose by the pool. We have about 5 sets that we’ve purchased over the years. And, at only $10 for 4, they’re a affordable gift for anyone on your list!
5 // WINE MAKING EQUIPMENT
Cody and I have this exact set and have been making our own wine from kits for years. Some of our favorite kits are the Spanish Tempranillo and Lodi Old Vine Zinfandel (which we served at our wedding!).
6 // A wine subscription box
The 12 Nights of Wine advent calendar is so much fun. These sell out every year but lucky for you, they made more this year and they’re still in stock! Or, purchase a gift subscription for their quarterly boxes to sample individual glasses of great wines.
7 // The essential wine education
There are some great books about wine out there, however Wine Folly strikes the perfect balance between sharing lots of great information and being incredibly user-friendly. The entire book is full of infographics. We use it to read up on the region as we open a new bottle.
8 // Wine Storage Solutions
We invested in this modular storage solution a few years ago and could not be happier with it. Ours was purchased unfinished, then we stained it to match our dining furniture (it’s actually the 4′ Individual Diamond Bin, turned on its side to fit our half-walls).
STOCKING STUFFER IDEAS
As I mentioned before, the Kelvin K2 makes a great stocking stuffer. Here are a few other ideas for the wine lover on your list:
- A wine glass holder that suctions onto the side of the bathtub
- Wine pearls to chill a glass without watering it down
- Red wine stain remover (a must to keep that holiday tablecloth looking its best)
- Champagne bottle stopper, to keep those opened bottles fizzy for longer
- A foldable wine bottle for bringing wine places you can’t bring glass
