One of the joys of living in a historic home is you can never count on having electric run to the places you want or need it – and trying to drop new wiring is a huge hassle (not to mention $$$).
Our bedroom is one of those places. We have a ceiling fan (which is next in the upgrade list; check out our favorite options here) and one small can light near the door. We tried bedside lamps for years but found they limited the “stuff” we each like to keep near us: laptop and cooking magazines (me) and books and the (the hubs).
Most wall sconces we found required electricity. Puck light hacks are a great option, given no alternative. Still, we were set on finding an alternative.
Enter these $40 plug-in wall sconces.
Affordable? Check. Look high end? Check. Easy to turn on and off without fumbling for a switch on the floor? Check check.
SHOP: SCONCES // NIGHTSTANDS // HEADBOARD
We had these installed in our room before we added our accent wall (more on that soon!). And since we added the dark paneling, I love them even more! We paired ours with Edison bulbs for a moody, yellow light that’s not too harsh for reading, late night baby feedings, and the dozens of other times we reach for these lights.
They’re an easy upgrade that anyone can take on, without spending a fortune!
