The feedback on our DIY Competition Bikini series continues to amaze and overwhelm me. When I started making my first suit two years ago, I struggled to find anything about how to get it done, so I just kinda made it up. This pet project – to create a resource that enables even an amateur seamstress to make their own suit – is still one of my favorites to work on.
So, without further ado, I’m thrilled to announce we’re launching a DIY Competition Bikini video series here at FitGirlinFlight.com. I’ll be taking you step-by-step through making your own suit.
You can catch up on how to pick your fabric, connectors, and the materials you’ll need in our DIY Competition Bikini: Getting Started section. Once you have everything, then the real fun begins!
First up: Cutting the fabric for making the top. And it’s so easy!
Materials in the video: Green fabric ($13) // Black liner fabric ($5) // Swim Shapers ($12) // Rotary cutter ($10) // Cutting mat ($30)

do you have the dimensions for the bottoms? I’m making my own suit because i cant brink myself to pay $400 for one, but im mainly concerned about the bottoms and how i should cut them.

There’s no set dimension I use, however you can watch this video I made to show you how to cut the bottoms using a swimsuit that fits already as your pattern: https://youtu.be/RXYl_jtkv-k
