Ever since Dream Home Makeover started airing on Netflix, I have been obsessed with the Studio McGee style and how to create the Studio McGee look for less. I pulled together a round up a few months ago of more budget-friendly options to recreate one of my favorite spaces from the show. Today we’re diving in to one of my other favorite homes on the show – the McGee’s home – and how to create their entry way for less.
One of the things I love about the Studio McGee style is it’s both modern and timeless – and the front entry to their home is no exception. Unfortunately, I just can’t justify an $800 lamp or a $4,000 vintage rug no matter how stunning they are.
Let’s break down the Studio McGee Look for Less: Entryway edition.
THE VINTAGE RUG
The room has to start with the rug. A vintage rug just isn’t practical for me with two dogs and two kids who will track mud all over it. We’ve added a few of these flatweave vintage-looking rugs in our house and love them. They’re easy to clean and vacuum and look much more expensive than they are. If you want completely washable, definitely opt for this Ruggable or this Ruggable.
A RECLAIMED WOOD CONSOLE
The console at the McGee’s is vintage (read: priceless) however we found three that will give you the same reclaimed wood look for under $400. Or, if you want a slightly more modern look, go with this Threshold by Studio McGee option!
ACCESSORIES TO ADD DEPTH AND TEXTURE
One place Shea’s style shines is in the accessories. Pair a large heavy textured lamp with a sleek glass vase and faux greens, along with coffee table books and a candle repurposed from another spot in your house. This lamp and this lamp are both under $130, while the options here and here are a steal under $50!
LARGE ROUND MIRROR
The McGee entry way pulls in extra light through an oversized round mirror. Thankfully these mirrors are incredible affordable – this one and this one are two of my favorites to recreate the look.
STATEMENT PENDANT
The last piece of the room is the stunning schoolhouse fixture with white glass shade – and at $1,400 (!!) it’s a little out of my budget. This semi-custom light is still a splurge at $800, or you could recreate a similar look with the options below under $200 each (the other three come in bronze, too).
