Vintage Brass Bathroom Hardware

Vintage-look bathroom inspiration with brass hardware

Since moving into our historic house five years ago, we have renovated two bathrooms and added on another. Only one half bath has remained untouched so far, and its days are numbered. When deciding on what style to go with, we knew we had to stay consistent with that of our craftsman home, but also wanted something that felt fresh and stylish. Thank goodness that vintage brass bathroom hardware is back in vogue!

Look how seamlessly it blends with the black and white tile in this bathroom by San Franscisco designer Katie Martinez (source).

Or this moody, warm bathroom from Bre Purposed that has the same mixed metals look we’re going for in our bathrooms (source).

Or singer Vanessa Carlton’s bathroom, as featured in Architectural Digest – swoon! (source).

Today we’re rounding up our favorite vintage brass bathroom hardware options, complete with shoppable links.

SHOWER FIXTURES

The first place we started in our bathroom renovation was to choose the shower faucet. It’s one of the more expensive items, and we found it was easier to choose that and build the rest of the bathroom around it. Swapping the shower hardware is also a great way to update your bathroom without redoing everything. This brass Pottery Barn option immediately caught my eye (although it’s definitely a splurge), and I love the idea of the matching tub filler.

SINK FAUCETS

Next on our list was to pick a faucet for the sink. Again, I wanted that vintage brass look to match the style of our 1913 house but didn’t want to break our bank account. We love Kingston Brass for vintage-looking faucets – we have them in our kitchen, kitchenette, and two of our bathrooms. This wall mounted option is the same style as what we ultimately chose in our master (read all about our wall-mounted bathroom faucets here) but in brass – and under $200!

MIRRORS AND MEDICINE CABINETS

Pottery Barn has the best mirrors and medicine cabinets if you want the vintage look without the crazy price tags. We opted for medicine cabinets like these in our bathrooms to add hidden storage and keep some items far away from small children. A similar look comes in a pivot mirror, or opt for two oval mirrors for a more modern feel.

VANITY LIGHTING

There are so many options when it comes to lighting. First, be sure to consider the layout of your bathroom. Do you have one sink or two and will you need multiple smaller units or one large? From there, find something that speaks to you. Both Pottery Barn and Wayfair have tons of great options in vintage brass (linked below). I fell in love this single bulb light from Rejuvenation after spotting it in a few Studio McGee homes. Now, I just have to find a spot to put it. Half bath, here I come!

BATHROOM HARDWARE

“You get what you pay for.” That adage is certainly true when I comes to bathroom hardware. Trust me – I know from personal experience.

If you try to go super cheap with you hardware, it will break or start looking dull after a year or two. But, that doesn’t mean that you have to spend a fortune. We have this Pottery Barn set on order for our master bath, and are considering this Kingston Brass option for our kids bath.

CABINET KNOBS AND PULLS

Knobs and pulls are the perfect place to add your own unique style. The possibilities are almost endless – just make sure to consider what holes are already drilled into your cabinets before making any purchases. Some pulls require a very specific hole pattern. These unlacquered brass knobs via Etsy will naturally patina and age over time, or you could opt for this simple but beautiful cup pull and an understated but elegant knob from Pottery Barn.

DOOR KNOBS

Door knobs are often an overlooked item when renovating a room, but they are literally one of the first things people will see and touch. Do yourself a favor and don’t skip updating your door knobs. As you may know, I’m partial to crystal knobs and think this is perfect for a brass bathroom. Don’t forget to get the privacy version if you want to be able to lock the door.

Want a vintage look? Then go vintage!

If you want a unique vintage look, consider incorporating real vintage pieces into your renovation. Etsy and Ebay make this so easy. No need to rummage through estate sales or flea markets if you don’t want to.

Here are some great, one of a kind vintage brass items that I came across during a quick search.
