As far as Vegas hotels go, The Cosmopolitan Las Vegas is certainly a winner! Gone are the days of cramped, outdated, smoky Vegas hotel rooms. The Cosmopolitan opened in late 2010 and has already undergone additional rounds of renovation. Plus, it’s part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection which makes earning and redeeming Marriott Rewards points simple!
THE GUESTROOMS
My dad who holds Marriott Lifetime Platinum status booked us two rooms for our Vegas trip to celebrate my sisters’ birthdays (yes, plural. Two sisters, with birthdays two days apart). Since the room was booked on points, we only had to pay the resort fee of $35/day and a small charge.
We checked in via the Autograph Lounge next to the main check-in line. Anyone holding Marriott Gold status or higher can use this alternate check in and out line, saving a ton of time compared to the regular check-in line which can snake across the lobby during peak hours.
As elite status holders, both rooms on our reservation were upgraded to Terrace One Bedroom Fountain View rooms and all I can say is WOW. The rooms were MASSIVE! We had a large living room, spacious bathroom, and comfortable bedroom. Even by non-Vegas standards, the room was impressively large.
The best part? Our room also had a great balcony with an outdoor lounge sofa and comfortable chair which was a great place to relax with a cocktail before our dinner reservations at night (the rooms come with a separate mini-fridge, so take a quick walk across the street to Walgreens and pick up wine or beer to enjoy in your room). The Cosmopolitan is the only hotel on the strip with balconies – you won’t get views like this anywhere else! We were on the 46th floor and just… wow.
If you’re sharing a room with friends, make sure you get one with two double beds. The King rooms only have frosted glass between the bedroom and bathroom, and a window shade between the bathtub and bedroom. From fountain view rooms, you get an amazing view of the entire strip from inside the shower or tub, too!
THE PROPERTY
The Cosmopolitan is a great hub for anyone trying to make the most of their time in Vegas. It’s right in the center of the strip and a quick walk to the Aria on one side, and the Caesars family of properties on the other (Caesar’s, Paris, Bally’s, the Linq, Flamingo, etc.).
Within The Cosmopolitan, there is the infamous Chandelier Bar, a three story bar built inside a massive chandelier, as well as a number of fine dining and quick dining options. One of our favorites was the Block 16 Urban Food Hall where you can grab quick bites all day (their late night options are the best!).
And of course, it wouldn’t be Vegas without a great casino. The Cosmopolitan has reasonably priced card tables ($10-25 buy-ins) and isn’t nearly as smoky as some of the older casinos like Bally’s. The only downside of The Cosmopolitan versus the Caesar’s properties is the lack of an integrated rewards network like Total Rewards, which makes it harder to earn points if you like to hop across casinos.
We unfortunately didn’t have time to check out the pool – we had my 18 year old sister with us who wouldn’t have been allowed in any way. More to come on what else you can do in Vegas during the day to make the most of your vacation!
THE RATES
A quick search of the Marriott website shows our room – the Terrace One Bedroom Fountain View – usually runs $250-800 per night, depending on the weekend and what else is going on in Vegas. Alternately, as a Reward Category 6 hotel, you can book for 50,000 points per night.

The hotel, like many in Vegas, does have a $35 resort fee that is applied at checkout. The fee is increasing to $39 in January 2019.
Of course, there are much less expensive accommodations in Las Vegas, but if you have the points or are looking for a nicer resort, it’s so worth it! The space would also be ideal if you’re planning to sleep 3-4 for a room for a girl’s weekend or bachelorette party. Could you imagine cramming 4 people into a tiny room at the Flamingo? (Been there, done that, never again.)
